
ABOUT BAY CITY MECHANICAL
Helge was born in Norway and graduated with a degree in mechanical engineering. He moved to the United States in 1982 where he was employed by Gayner Engineering of San Francisco. He then spent the next five years in their design department working on various projects including Chevron, U.C. Berkeley Labs and Stanford Hospital.
He was hired as an estimator for South City Mechanical and later moved to Allied Heating and Air Conditioning as their estimator. He founded Bay City Mechanical, Inc. in 1991 and the company has grown to become a hard bid/design negotiated company doing $40 million annually and the sixth largest mechanical contracting company in the San Francisco Bay Area.
With 25 years of dedicated experience and 20 years running his own company, he maintains a distinguished resume of successful projects and satisfied clients on projects ranging from $200,000 to $5,000,000. As President, Helge serves as the primary point of contact at Bay City Mechanical, Inc., providing progress reports and seeking direct input from his clients throughout their projects. Most importantly, his personal commitment is to help ensure that our projects are completed on time, within budget, and with the unsurpassed quality of design and service for which Bay City Mechanical, Inc. is known. An expert in designing a diverse range of facility types, Helge centralizes the efforts of the in-house and consulting design teams, creating practical, efficient and economical solutions. It is Helge's broad past experience which helps prepare his clients for the cutting-edge needs of tomorrow.
Helge and his wife, Patricia, live in San Anselmo and have two children - Kate and Christopher. Katie is attending graduate school at U.C. Berkeley and Chris is a medic in the United States Air Force, stationed at Vandenberg AFB in Santa Barbara, where he and his wife, Alex, live and are proud parents of Lovise Nyland.
Helge enjoys racing cars, golfing and boating, and of course his new grand daughter.

John came from Sweden in 1975 after graduating from the University of Stockholm as a mechanical engineer. He has worked for various design/build mechanical contractors in the San Francisco Bay Area, including Critchfield Mechanical and South City Mechanical.
He joined Bay City Mechanical, Inc. in 2002, bringing with him 35 years of industry experience. John develops comprehensive, cost-effective solutions for all types of HVAC design/build projects. After assessing each project's unique needs, he designs systems, plans installations, estimates cost, writes proposals that reflect the full scope of the client's requirements and, when a project has been completed, performs quality control reviews. He is also skilled at value engineering and identifying opportunities for reducing cost without sacrificing critical performance quality.
In addition to spending his leisure time with his wife, Judy, and his children and grandchildren, John enjoys boating and traveling.
By developing and implementing measurable department goals, Bobbie helps build the financial base the company needs to continue providing clients with consistently high-performance systems and services. His responsibilities include directing accounts payable, accounts receivable, human resources, financial reporting, along with developing and maintaining the company's valued relationships with our banking, insurance and surety providers.
Bobbie has over 25 years of accounting experience. He has been with Bay City Mechanical, Inc. for the past 10 years. Bobbie graduated with a BS in Accounting from Cal State Hayward.
Bobbie lives in Sacramento with his son and is an active member of his church community.
Craig has worked for Bay City Mechanical, Inc. since 2001. He served as a field foreman until being promoted to field superintendent and general foreman in 2004. Craig has extensive experience in commercial and residential installations and has 20 years of experience in the sheet metal and HVAC trade.
Craig is responsible for all field manpower, which includes sheet metal workers, service technicians and pipe fitters. he is also responsible for our tool and pre-fab shop workers, and the detailing department. Craig addresses customer/client concerns to assure resolution and maintain long-term positive relationships.
Craig and his wife, Rene, live in Brentwood with their three boys. He enjoys boating, and coaching his oldest boy's baseball team.

Joe was born in Passaic, New Jersey and moved to California in 1983 to pursue an engineering degree. He graduated from Cal Poly, SLO in 1987 with a B.S. Degree in HVAC Engineering Technology. Upon graduation, he accepted an offer with University Mechanical [UMEC] as a Project Engineer and moved to San Diego, CA. He quickly embraced the construction industry and began running $20M worth of projects.
In 1989, Joe moved to the Bay Area and continued his career working as a Sr. Project Manager/Estimator for George H. Wilson, Inc., in Santa Cruz, CA on large challenging OSHPD Healthcare Projects for Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula, Dominican Hospital, Salinas Valley Memorial and Watsonville Hospital. In 1995, at the height of the .COM wave, he moved on, working in the Silicon Valley overseeing Design-Build HVAC/Mechanical projects for Hi-Rise, Bio-Tech, Data Centers and Clean Rooms as the Director of Project Management for Air Systems, Inc. This department of 22-PM’s, built-in-place $400M of work for clients like Exodus, Sprint, Cisco Systems, SLAC, Novellus, AMD, Intel, Seagate and Stanford University. Additionally, he partnered with SJSU to create a Project Management Certificate Program to train PM’s. In 2001, he became entrepreneurial, starting his own HVAC D/B firm, working in the Silicon Valley for the next three [3] years. In 2004, Joe moved to Sacramento where he founded ‘Lawson designBUILD’, a division of Lawson Mechanical Contractors. As their Design-Build Manager, Joe was instrumental in securing the $181M State of CA Central Utility Plant [CUP] Renovation Project. In 2010, he returned to the Bay Area as an MEP Contract Employee for Balfour Beatty Construction [a.k.a. Howard S. Wright].
We are very excited that Joe has recently joined Bay City Mechanical in 2013. Those who know him, have an esteem for his reputation and credentials. The [27] years of work experience and resume of large/complex projects speak for themselves. His background in BD/Marketing, Operations, Pre-Con/Estimating, D/B Delivery, Project Management, solidifies Bay City Mechanical as a formidable HVAC/Mechanical Contractor. Joe’s relationships among the AEC Community will contribute tremendously to Bay City’s growth. His involvement with DBIA, ASHE, CSHE, LCI, ASHRAE and the local Business Times, provides great visibility.
Joe and his wife, Maria live in Hercules, CA with their two children Josiah and Sheliya and Maria’s mom, Son Hui. Joe enjoys spending time with his family, playing golf, tennis, chess, watching sporting events, camping, rowing, helping others and pursuing spiritual goals.
Theo Garcia,

Business Development
Theo was born in San Francisco, and grew up just north in San Rafael, where he lives with his wife, Jackie, and their two children, Jackson and Katherine. He obtained his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from The University of California, Berkeley in 1994. Upon graduating, he began work for Murakami, Myers, and Horn Engineers, a consulting engineering firm in Santa Rosa, CA, as a mechanical designer. Here, he worked on a variety of projects including detention facilities, schools, medical buildings, and a diverse array of commercial and industrial projects. Theo left MM&H in 1996 to return to graduate school. He received his Masters of Science in Biomechanical Engineering from UC Berkeley in 1998, with an emphasis on orthopedic implant design, and began his career at Allied Mechanical where he became partner and significantly expanded the capacity of their design/build division, specifically in the Biotech, Medical/Healthcare, and Commercial Tenant Improvement markets. Theo left Allied in 2014 and joined Bay City Mechanical, with the goal of increasing and diversifying the design/build division, and developing new clients.
As the resident Professional Engineer, Theo is involved in a variety of roles within Bay City. He is responsible for the design of all design-build projects, where he takes them from a concept, and designs the most effective solution while always examining cost implications of design decisions. In addition to the Design-Build functions, Theo also helps with Plans and Specifications projects when Value Engineering ideas are requested. In addition to his engineering responsibilities, Theo is engaged in expanding the existing client base, and increase opportunities in the Biotech, Medical/Healthcare, and Commercial Tenant Improvement markets
Theo has a history of successful design build projects for the likes of: Amyris Biotechnologies, Bayer Healthcare, Sutter Hospital, Wareham Development, the California Department of Justice, and Biomarin Pharmaceuticals.
